Saturday 8th June Pentecost prayer during Thy Kingdom Come 15 people from a variety of denominations climbed the tower to praise and pray over the city.
It was a physical and spiritual experience as the wind was blowing strongly. Images of wind and fire were on our hearts as we prayed together. We acknowledged that both can be dangerous and spread fast. We were reminded of the verse that says ‘not by power, not by might, but by my Spirit…’
The people at the first Pentecost didn’t know what to expect, yet God poured out his spirit and the people saw it.
We loved the momentum of all the prayers during thy kingdom come, shaking the ground, calling people to respond. And then we heard that during the Street Pastors night shift last night a man gave his life to Jesus at McDonald’s in Peckham!
Singing ‘Build Your Kingdom Here’ was a good anthem for the heartbeat of our prayers up the tower today.
