The SOUTHWARK GDOP PRAYER VIGIL on Sunday 31st May 2009 at Peckham Space was a tremendous celebration of Pentecost together as hundreds gathered with dozens of church leaders in a prayer vigil for the borough outside Peckham Library. We were joined by Southwark Mayor and by MP Simon Hughes, who gave endorsement of our united prayer and action and its benefits. It was one of 50 such events around the capital that day. In Southwark, another GDOP gathering took place at Herne Hill in the evening.
The GDOP South East regional Night of Prayer on 1st Feb 2009 at Gateway House in Woolwich was a great success with hundreds travelling to be together in prayer, despite the blizzard that was blowing up that evening. We were welcomed on video by Host Pastor Tayo Adeyemi, led in dynamic praise and worship by the resident band and directed in prayer by local young people alongside Hugh Osgood, Joseph Boadu, Les Isaac, Phil Stokes and Jonathan Oloyede. Simon Hughes MP told Christians to pray that God would strengthen them “where we are so that more and more people by the power of the Holy Spirit can do His will”….“There is lots of work to do because there is still lots of evil in this city,” he said. “We’re here to pray that with every day, good overcomes evil and people will turn their lives around.”
This was part of a series of 7 nights all over London that culminated in a celebration at Westminster Chapel
